The Experience at Koele

The Experience at Koele was Lanai’s first resort course and the first U.S. course designed by Greg Norman in collaboration with Ted Robinson. The par 72 mountain layout takes full advantage of Lanai’s lush terrain.  The Experience begins on a high plateau nearly 2,000 feet above sea level.  At this elevation you’ll find a refreshingly cool Hawaiian climate as the course meander through the misty hillsides and steep valleys on to high plateaus.

 Typical of a Ted Robinson design there is water everywhere at The Experience including seven lakes, streams and cascading waterfalls.  And, typical of Greg Norman, you will find plenty of risk-reward holes on this course.  The signature hole at The Experience is the 17^th. There is a spectacular 250-foot drop from the tee to the fairway, where the hole is nestled in the deepest and most magnificent gorge on the island. The tee shot needs to favor the left side of the fairway for two reasons – the trade winds come from the left and tend to push the ball toward the lake and up at the green, there is a huge eucalyptus tree protecting the right side.
