Won the biggest title of his career when he defeated then world number three golfer Phil Mickelson in a play-off for The 2007 Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond, a victory that helped him break into the top 20 of the Order of Merit for the first time. Became the second Frenchman to win the title after Thomas Levet in 2004. Continued his love affair with Scotland in 2008 by capturing the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, then finished tied third at the same event in 2009. Claimed his maiden title in the 2001 Italian Open at Is Molas in Sardinia in 2001, an historic achievement as he followed Levet into the winners’ enclosure that year, the first time two Frenchmen had won in the same season on The European Tour International Schedule. Took up golf at the age of ten after being encouraged by his father, a Parisian vet.
