Welsh Rarebits

Welsh Rarebits is a collection of luxury hotels, boutique hotels and country house hotels in the stunning scenery of Wales. Welsh Rarebits is passionate about accommodation that offers high standards, not just in cuisine and scenery, but in that all-important dimension - that elusive quality variously defined as atmosphere, ambience or, best of all, Croeso, the Welsh word for welcome. Whether you want a romantic short break, a golfing break or a walking holiday there is a unique and luxurious hotel for you in Wales.

North Wales
It is said that North Wales is the UK’s activity capital …How high do you want to go?  All 3,560 feet to the top of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England?  If you don’t fancy the walk, then hop on the Snowdon Mountain Railway.  Snowdon is the centerpiece of a huge National Park that contains moorlands, lakes, and stunning coastline.  For more seashore head for the Llyn Peninsula or the Isle of Anglesey, both designated “Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty”.  On the doorstep of 23 different  Welsh Rarebits properties you can hike, mountain bike, canoe, fish, horse back ride and of course golf.

Mid Wales
Known as the quietest region Mid Wales does not shout it’s unique characteristics.   Like… it’s timeless border country, lakes and mountains and the Ceredigion Heritage Coast, where dolphins swim in crystal clear water. You’ve probably heard of the Brecon Beacons, the fresh green National Park in the southern corner. But Mid Wales is essentially a region of best kept secrets, some down right eccentric – the highest waterfall, UK’s smallest town (Llanwrtyd Wells) that hosts bizarre events like bog snorkeling or man vs. horse marathons.  Best of all is the rest and relaxation from just being in one of 12 outstanding Welsh Rarebits sites.

South West Wales
Most of South West Wales is beside the sea and even has a breezy bayside city: Swansea whose modern character is shaped by its maritime past.  Here are some pub quiz questions for you about South West Wales:

1. Wales’s longest beach?
Answer:  Carmarthen Bay’s Cefa Sidan Sands all seven miles of it

2. Britain’s only coastal National Park?
Answer:  The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, all 180 miles of it

3. The UK’s first protected  “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”?
Answer:  The Gower Peninsula,  bonus points for its 50 bays, coves and beaches

4. The best coastal walk ever?
Answer:  the path around St David’s  Peninsula,  come and see why it inspired Celtic saints

Welsh Rarebits can host you in a dozen wonderful settings in South West Wales.

South Wales
The Romans set up camp in Cardiff 2000 years ago. Their fort has since grown into a fabulous city-center castle.  It’s a surprising sight that sets the tone for the entire region.  South Wales is full of surprises like that…Take the Valleys, this former industrial powerhouse, transformed over the last few decades, is now filled with forest and country parks, not coalmines.  Afan Forest Park is listed along with California and Chamonix for its world class mountain biking.  Back in Cardiff you find a contemporary waterfront city that has reinvented itself.  Just a short hop in one direction there’s the undiscovered Glamorgan Heritage Coast, and in the other the wooded Wye Valley an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”  Oh and the south just happens to be hosting one of the world’s top golf tournaments  in 2010 when the Ryder Cup comes to The Celtic Manor Resort, Newport.  And Welsh Rarebits can accommodate you in 7 different properties throughout the south of Wales.
